Poptheeratham Gym is owned by the legendary Samart Payakaroon. Samart is a 4x lumpinee stadium champion (4 different weight classes), a WBC champion and a 3x winner of the prestigious sports writers “fighter of the year” award. Samart, along with his brother Kongtoranee (5x lumpinee champion), were both included on the “top 5 Muay Thai fighters of all time” list by the Thai media. They were both brought up in the Sityodtong camp and trained by Kru Yodthong Senanan.

In addition to Samart and his coaching staff, they have some high level fighters at the gym as well that you can clinch and spar with. At the time of this writing, Saksongkram Poptheeratham is ranked #6 in the super light weight division of Lumpinee stadium.


The Poptheeratham Gym is located in the Sai Mai district of Bangkok. The gym is nearby the Don Muang domestic airport and near the Royal Thai Air Force base. Poptheeratham Gym has rooms available on site and the accommodation, training and food can be sold as a package. The rates vary depending on how long you’re staying and which accommodation type you select. Here is a listing of the current prices (be sure to negotiate if you’re planning on staying long term).

Training Info & Photos

There are two sessions per day that foreigners can join in on. The morning session runs from 6am-7:30am and the afternoon session runs from 3pm-5pm. At 5pm, the Thai students arrive for their session which ends at 7pm.
