Fairtex; which the leading Muay Thai equipment manufacturer, has two training camps in Thailand. One is in the outskirts of Bangkok in an area called “Bangplee” and the other is in the beach resort city of Pattaya.
The Pattaya location is where Yodsanklai Fairtex trains. Yodsanklai is a 2x WMC champion, WBC champion, Thailand champion and multiple division champion at Lumpinee stadium. In other words, he’s one of the best fighters in the world and you’ll have the chance to train alongside him at the Pattaya facility.
This gym is set up more like a resort than a traditional Muay Thai gym. There is a swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness center, a tennis, squash and badminton court, a basketball court, a rock climbing wall, a restaurant and juice bar, sauna and in terms of Muay Thai equipment, there are 4 full sized rings as well as a large area equipped with heavy bags.
The gym is in a pretty good location that’s far enough from all the distractions that Pattaya is known for, yet it’s convenient enough to easily head to the beach or the central part of the city for some dining and entertainment options. I believe the fighters run along the beach to kick off their training sessions so that gives you an idea of how close it is.
The gym is also along the baht bus route (10 baht per ride) so commuting around the city is pretty easy. It’s in the North end of Pattaya (located along North Pattaya road). Here is a map you can use to find the gym.
As mentioned above, this place is pretty much a fitness resort and they offer on-site rooms. If you’re just in for a short vacation, staying on site would be great but if you’re staying long term, you may be able to save quite a bit of money by touring around the area and looking for an apartment that offers monthly rates. There are plenty of nearby accommodation options and even if you have to venture away from the gym a little bit, it’s not a big problem due to the ease of transportation within Pattaya (gym located right along the baht bus route).
Training Info & Photos
The training at Fairtex Pattaya consists of 2 sessions per day. The morning session starts off with a non-mandatory run along the beach. If you choose to do this, you’ll be running alongside the top fighters. Once you get back at the gym, you’ll go through your pad work (5×4 minute rounds), your bag work as well as some sparring and/or clinching. The morning session follows a similar route only there’s no run along the beach to kick things off (unless you want to do it on your own time of course).
