evolve mma singapore

While this site mainly focuses on gyms within Thailand, Evolve MMA in Singapore is worth mentioning solely due to the amount of talent they’ve brought in.

You’d be hard pressed to find another gym in the region (or the world) that has a team of trainers that are as accomplished as the ones at Evolve.

With Singapore being only a 1 hour flight from Phuket, checking out another country while you’re in Southeast Asia might be worth it – especially if you need to do a visa run.

Since it opened in 2009, Evolve MMA, as a gym, has been the recipient numerous awards, including being classed as the “best MMA gym in Asia” by various publications.

As a team, their fighters have won multiple championships, including a UFC lightweight title which was claimed by Raphael Dos Anjos in 2015.

The gym’s founder, Chatri Sityodtong, is a successful entrepreneur who was managing a 500 million dollar hedge fund prior to starting Evolve.

Chatri, having grown up training in the famous Sityodtong camp in Pattaya, has a love for martial arts and Evolve MMA seems to be the result of his passion for the sport combined with the financial means to seek out the best trainers available.

There are multiple branches of Evolve in Singapore. One in the “far east square”, one in “orchard central” and another in “Pomo mall”. Singapore, as I mentioned, is just a short flight from Thailand (about 60-90 minutes, depending on where you’re flying from).

It’s one of the cleanest and most developed cities in Asia, and the residents there enjoy one of the highest per-capital incomes in the world. In fact, 1 out of every 4 people you meet in Singapore are likely to be millionaires.

It’s a very civilized, peaceful society, and it’s a great place to network and gain connections. That being said, the cost of living (specifically accommodation) is very high.

To counteract this, the management at Evolve has negotiated preferential rates at nearby hotels for students enrolled in the “Evolve Vacation” program. You can get more information on the program, it’s costs etc. by clicking here.

Aside from the accommodation, the food is delicious and cheap. Alcohol is expensive, but if you’re trying to get in shape and focused on training, that’s probably a good thing anyway.

Training Info

As I’ve mentioned, there’s an impressive roster of former world champions (in various disciplines) who are now working as trainers at Evolve MMA.

For Muay Thai, you can learn from..

  • Sam A Gaiyanghadao
  • Orono Wor Petchpun
  • Petchboonchu FA Group
  • Pornsanae Sitmonchai
  • Nonthachai Sit O
  • Muangfalek Kiatvichian
  • Yoddecha Sityodtong
  • Chaowalith Jockey Gym
  • Kanongsuk Chuwattana
  • Singtongnoi Por Telakun
  • Nong 0 Gaiyanghadao
  • Peneke Sitnumnoi
  • Sagetdao Petpayathai

If you follow Muay Thai, you’ll know these names. If you don’t, you can look up their fights on Youtube.

Every single one of them has is a multi-time champion, having claimed some of the most prestigious titles in the sport (Rajadamnern, Lumpinee, WMC etc.).

For Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the instructor team is equally as impressive, featuring multiple world champion black belts as well as fighters who are quite famous in the MMA world; Rafael Dos Angos and Shinya Aoki.

There are very accomplished instructors running classes for Boxing, Judo and Wrestling as well.

Accommodation & Vacation Packages

With accommodation in Singapore being as expensive as it is, training at Evolve was unrealistic for most non-residents.

To counter that, I mentioned that the management at Evolve has negotiated discounted rates at nearby hostels/hotels for their visitors.

The website for their new “vacation” program is: www.Evolve-Vacation.com

You’ll find pricing information and more details about the program on there.
