The Diamond Muay Thai camp is owned by a fighter/trainer named “Mon”. Mon is a Thai army champion and has racked up a lot of fights in Southern Thailand. Before opening Diamond Muay Thai, he worked as a trainer at many of the other gyms in Koh Phangan.
His bio on the website also says that he frequently allows his students to “freestyle” on him when he’s holding pads (which means they can throw whatever combo they like and he will catch it properly without knowing what’s coming towards him beforehand).
Other trainers in the gym are Dam (fight name: Chalam Kaw), who is a South Thailand champion and “Pi Dam”, who according to their website, was a Lumpinee & Rajadamnern champion from the “glory days of Muay Thai”.
Diamond Muay Thai is located on the small island of Koh Phangan, which sits between Koh Samui and Koh Tao. The admin of the Diamond Muay Thai website wrote up an excellent overview of what life is like on Koh Phangan, so you can read it by clicking here.
There are plenty of accommodation options near the gym and the staff at Diamond seems to be quite willing to help students find a solution that meets their needs & budget. Click here to read the detailed write up on the Diamond Muay Thai site.
